Holy Week begins on April 9th with our annual Palm in the Platz Celebration at 11 a.m. at Marktplatz (126 W. Main) in downtown Fredericksburg! Stick around after worship (beginning at 11 a.m.) for a fellowship meal and children’s Easter Egg hunt. We will continue preparing our hearts for Easter with a Maundy Thursday communion service at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 13th.
On Good Friday, April 14th, our Chancel Choir and orchestra under the direction of FUMC’s Music Director, Don Doss, will present “The Seven Last Words of Christ,” also at 7 p.m. This musical, written by Theodore Dubois and first performed in 1867, has since been revered as a classical standard in the observance of the Passion of our Lord. (To learn more about the musical or the presentation, contact Don at email@example.com).
We will have a sunrise service at 7:07 a.m. on Easter morning, followed by our usual 9 a.m. contemporary and 11:10 a.m. traditional services. Our children’s ministry is also hosting a petting zoo on Easter morning, and Pastor George will do a blessing of the animals between the 9 a.m. and 11:10 a.m. services. All are invited to join us as we celebrate the joy of the resurrection this Easter!
