Don Doss

Director of Music Ministries

Don Doss joined the FUMC staff in April of 2007 having served in several other Boerne and Kerrville churches as well as being a band director in Ingram and Harper schools. Don has served for most of his 30+ years in Baptist Churches in Oklahoma and Texas after his education at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee Oklahoma and the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth.

Don is FUMC’s Director of Music Ministries, and he oversees all of the musical groups and music ministry work that happens here. He personally directs the Chancel Choir and the Praise Team as well as the Kid’s Music Academy. In addition to these duties, he also oversees the media and video ministries… and is just a very small bit of a computer geek.

Don is married to Jennifer and has 2 daughters, Jessica and Jadyn, who currently attend Kerrville schools. Jennifer is employed at GVNW Consulting as a Financial Accounting Consultant.

Although there is little time to do anything about it these days, Don is an Astronomy buff and likes to study the heavens through his 10 inch telescope. He spends the bulk of his time at home trying to complete a way-over-time and budget backyard project! Don also spends quite a bit of time working with video editing and sound recording.

Don looks forward to many more years here at FUMC and to incredible musical growth in all of our groups and would like to add more ministries such as a gospel jazz band and a youth choir.

Joel Griffin

Director of Youth Ministries
E-mail Joel Griffin

Joel has served as the Director of Youth Ministries at FUMC since August 2012 and has been in full time youth ministry for 13 years. He grew up in East Texas and was called into youth ministry when he was 16 years old. Joel attended McMurry University in Abilene and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Christian Education.

Joel’s passion is to see teenagers connect with the love that God has for them and to realize that they have a place in His story. He strives to make teenagers feel loved and empowered to reach out to the world around them with God’s love.

Joe’s other passion in his life is his family. He has been married to his wife Rene for 13 years. They have three wonderful girls, Reese, Robbie Jane, and Ryan, whom they love very much!

Joel enjoys many sports but really loves college football (Hook’em Horns!) and baseball. He has been known to sneak away in the fall to go on a hunt or two as well. Joel also enjoys great food, movies, and live music.

Tricia Small

Director of Communications
E-mail Tricia Small

Tricia is our Director of Communications and comes to us as a multimedia journalism graduate with highest recommendations from UT Austin. She transferred to UT after two years of studying journalism and fine art photography in downtown Chicago.  Tricia grew up in Allen, TX, just north of Dallas. She has worked as the web and social media developer for an Austin law firm and has her own photography business, but very much loved her two years as the camp photographer at Charis Hills Camp, a Christian summer camp for kids with learning and social difficulties. As the camp photographer, she took over 600 pictures a day posting them all daily online so parents could see their kids at camp.

Since moving to Fredericksburg, she has been heavily involved at the Fredericksburg Theater Company. She’s volunteered as backstage crew or sound engineer for multiple productions, and has assistant directed and stage managed two musicals. She also met her soon-to-be-husband, Zac Tiedemann, a graduate of McMurry University’s theater program.

She has a definite desire to use her many talents to reach out and share God’s love. She loves her dog Hazel, riding horses, black coffee, video editing, and Jesus… not necessarily in that order!

Lisa Davis

Director of Children's Ministries
E-mail Lisa Davis

We are pleased to welcome Lisa Davis as the newest member of the Fredericksburg UMC staff. Lisa will serve as our Children’s Director part-time.

Lisa and her husband, Elliott, moved to Fredericksburg 10 years ago. They have 2 boys, Jonathan, 16 and Christopher, 13. During the last 7 years God has given her the privilege to teach His Word to children as a children’s leader at Bible Study Fellowship, Sunday School and at multiple VBS programs. This has developed a passion in her for the Bible and for children to know it. She is excited for the opportunity God is giving her to bring children and families closer to Christ.

Judy Hickerson

Organist - Music Assistant

Judy Hickerson serves as our Church Organist and Chancel Choir Accompanist. She and her husband, Bob, moved to Fredericksburg from Austin in 2001. They had been talking about moving into the area when Bob suddenly received a job offer, and their dreams became a reality. Becoming the church organist was probably the last thing on Judy’s mind. She had joined the FUMC choir and loved that, and she didn’t mind substituting as the choir accompanist on occasion because she knew it was hard to take a vacation when you are the church organist. But when the position became available in 2007, she was offered the job and accepted.

Judy is a native Texan and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Elementary Education. She married a Marine Corps pilot and moved 23 times over the next 28 years. During those years, she kept going back to school and eventually took 15 hours of music as part of the teaching certifications in other states. She served as an organist/pianist while Bob was stationed in Hawaii and California, taught elementary and junior high school, and worked in Higher Education nearly all of her life. Bob and Judy have one daughter, Jennifer, who is married and living in Christoval (near San Angelo).

Judy has been playing the piano since she was six and thinks of it as a hobby along with knitting and gardening. She’s a lifelong Methodist and was baptized at the age of seven. She and her husband love Fredericksburg and Fredericksburg United Methodist Church and know that God guided them to this place.

Director of Media Ministries

Linda Klein

Office Manager/Membership Secretary

Linda Klein, the church’s Office Manager, joined the staff in March 1999. She grew up in Boerne, Texas, and moved to Fredericksburg in August 1970 when she married Archie. They have 2 grown children: Troy, who also lives in Fredericksburg, and Tricia and her family, who reside in Wisconsin. She and Archie love spending time with their 3 granddaughters. Linda also enjoys quilting.

Selena Hendrix

Director of Finances

Selena serves as our Financial Secretary, but earlier in life she was a preacher’s kid moving all across the deep south – she says she grew up in a U-Haul. She is married to Paul, the park manager for Hill Country State National Area in Bandera. They don’t have kids, but they do have 4 dogs and 1 cat. With previous experience in office management and purchasing, it would be wise to listen to her and not get her upset – she was in the Army for 6 years and was the top female marksmen in her unit… she likes guns!
