Why Give?

Giving and financial stewardship are vital parts of the life of any disciple of Jesus Christ. Of course, the church needs the financial support of those who are part of its ministry, but that is not the primary reason we give. More important than the ministry program’s need for funds is the Christian’s need to give. We believe that everything we own belongs to God and that God calls us to give back to him a significant portion of what He has entrusted to us. We do this primarily through our giving to the church, and regular, systematic giving is important as we live out our faith. Tithing (giving 10% of our income) or proportional giving is the practice that best demonstrates this practice.

Online Giving

Giving online provides a convenient way to make regular gifts to the church’s ministry. We can give easily and regularly this way through a direct transfer of funds from our bank account or through a debit/credit card transaction. (Note: Online giving using a debit card is identical to a credit card transaction and makes no distinction between the two. We offer this option only as a convenience and not as a way to circumvent sound biblical money management principles or incur debt.)

Gifts can be made as one-time gifts or set up as recurring gifts. Once a person sets up a recurring gift, it will happen automatically at the interval the donor indicates (weekly, monthly, etc.). If a change in the recurring payment is desired, the donor can alter it at any time online. If assistance is needed, one can contact Selena Hendrix, our Financial Secretary at 830-997-7679 or selena@fredumc.org.

One-time or recurring gifts can be designated to the church’s ministries budget (general operating fund), building fund (to be applied to the principal of our building debt), or the memorial fund.

All transactions are secure and confidential. You can also print out a detailed confirmation form for record keeping purposes. Making regular contributions online eliminates the need for you to frequently write out checks or depend on the mail to deliver them. For the church, online giving produces a more consistent level of donations throughout the year.
